I'm about to build myself a second set of doubles using a bunch of parts that I got on the cheap, but I am curious as to why face-sealed manifolds are a no-no in the DIR system. I would appreciate some enlightenment.

Peace,
Greg

you knock it against ceiling -> it turns -> it looses integrity easier than barrel o-ring.

face sealed = one o-ring per side and gives ~2-3mm of lateral adjustment with full sealing
barrel sealed = two o-rings per side and barely any lateral adjustment possible before it leaks

Face sealed "could" be plenty strong if done properly but historically these manifolds have been less than ideal.
