Has anyone been diving in the Bahamas in the last few weeks? If so, can you tell me what kind of water temperatures you found?

I'm leaving on a Blackbeards cruise on August 29. Blackbeards says that water temeratures this time of year range from 82 - 85 degrees. If this is true I'm OK in a skin. But I don't trust the average. I know that water temperatures further up the coast have been much lower than normal.

If I don't bring along enough exposure protection, I'm going to be very unhappy.

Help?

I just got back from a week of diving in Cay Sal, Bahamas on a liveaboard. The water temps were never below 84 on my computer. I actually saw some that were in the low 90's in some brief moments, but for the most part were 84 to 89. The water felt wonderful. I wore my 1.5m Excel suit and was comfortable, I never was overly warm, I did unzip and let water in a few times.
Some of the other divers did not wear any exposure suits, just their swimsuit and a t-shirt.

I have to say that I had some of the most beautiful dives that I have ever had this year there. I wish I were going back this weekend. Oh, well there is next year.

Have fun! I will be thinking of you and how much fun you will be having.

Scuba water temps in the area covered by Blackbeard's have been running 84-85 degrees. Depending on depth & site, look for anywhere between 83-86.

Surface water temps as high as 91 have been reported.

You'll be doing ~4 dives a day over a perod of a week--take adequate thermal protection. Can always run some water through if you get warm.

Have fun.
