I just bought a D300S camera body and housing back-plate as a back-up for my housed D300. The Ikelite D300 housing had a great new feature (compared with their older Nikon housings), you can replace the camera battery without removing the camera from the housing back-plate mounting bracket. The newer D300s back-plate goes back to the old continuous mounting bracket, without the cut-out for the battery. Were the D300S flash electronics SO much bigger that Ikelite had to take this step backward in design? I am posting this, in hopes that future housings will once again have the battery cut-out in the mounting plate.
