Should be diving this wreck and HMS Encounter later this yr on board MV Empress.
Having been on Empress twice before so I know what to epxect. Food will be good and the diving would be great.
I wonder if these two wrecks have been classified by MoD as War Grave yet?
Any comment on these two wrecks are much appreciated.

COFEPOW - Ships - HMS Exeter -Wreath-laying Ceremony

Java Campaign | Nihon Kaigun

Just dove the cruiser wrecks USS Houston and HMAS Perth in Banten Bay/Sunda Strait this past August 2010, who along with HMS Exeter & Encounter were part of that heroic but doomed WWII ABDA naval task force that was wiped out by the Imperial Japanese Navy. Samuel Eliot Morison's volume The Rising Sun in the Pacific gives a good general overview of the Java Sea Battles, and the last stand of these courageous ships & crew. . .

M/V Empress is a great tech liveaboard (been on her in 2006 for dives on Battleships HMS Repulse & Prince of Wales); have a good dive trip & looking forward to your report!

We have just been informed that the trip had to be cancelled because of change of regulations on operating foreign chartered vessel in the country!!!!! The possibility of being jailed in Indonesia and hefty fine are too much to bear. Anyway, he is offering either full refund or IJN's Haguro, Kuma and liner Sun Vista on the west coast of Malaysia.
Well it was Haguro who inflicted the most serious damages on HMS Exeter during the Battle of Java Sea. So......flight to Penang.

Excellent! Good Karma & Diving to You on the Cruiser HIJMS Haguro! (Looking forward to doing that wreckdive myself one of these days). . .

Poor vis and strong current are order of the day!!!
The captain is suggesting a 12-14 days trip from Singapore to Indonesia to dive HMS Exeter towards the end of Oct 2011. Diving some of the least accessible wrecks along the way. Have to rob the bank to pay for the trip!!!!!!

it's not that bad at all in the Mallacca Straights, as long as you dive when you're told to.

If you're still fiddling with your pony tail and mask strap 30mins after dive time you may not like the conditions very much..........
