My wife and I are going to Roatan this week but were surprised in all the vacinations our Dr. recommended. We recieved: Polio Booster, Measles Mumps and Rubella, Hepatitus A, & anti-maleria pills. We skipped the typhoid shot. Does anyone have any experience with this or other helpful tips?

Trigger,

Before my first trip to Roatan I was told we'd need all sorts of vaccinations but the one for malaria scared me as there have been serious side effects for divers. I asked my doctor and he checked into it for me. It helps that he's a diver!

After reading what the CDC recommends, his advice was that since Roatan is an island and our contact with the locals would be minimal, that vaccinations would not be necessary other than a current tetanus shot. And with CCV being on an island itself off the island of Roatan, this was especially true. It's a different story if you're going to the mainland of Honduras.

March will be my fourth trip to CCV with no problems. I guess it all comes down to what you're comfortable with. The side effects weren't worth it to us.

Here's a couple of websites for you to look at.

DAN is always a good resourse to check...
