What do you have in mind to be spearfishing for?

Size range of the fish will be your determining factor, as will your location. (reefs or open water)

Don't buy it at a dive shop unless you have money to burn, buy one with a metal handle, spend more and avoid a cheap underpowered one, realize that on this board most dont spearfish and lots are biased against spearfishing, pm me if i can help you more zeN

Depends on whether you plan freediving or scuba.I use a metal(stainless)54"AB Biller sometimes freeshaft sometimes lineshaft for scuba for anything from 2# flounder to 100# cobia.Freediving I use a 54" AB Biller LTD Mahogany with 2 wraps of 400# clear mono.

Try out the underwater hunting forum here at Scubaboard as well.

I use an AB Biller 48" Floridian and am very happy with it.

Are you scuba or freedive?
What do you want to shoot?
What conditions do you intend to mostly shoot in?
