i am looking at the Merino-Elasterprine 7 vs the 7/5 polar
first question since the polar is not a total 7 will the weighting be less. Seems like it should. Looking for something for long dives in 70 degree water plus some colder mid to high 60's Any feedback would be appeciated.

The Polar will probably be slightly less buoyant than a Merino-Elastipere 7 plus a hood because of the thinner lower arms and lower legs. (Remember that a Polar includes an attached hood, whereas the M-E 7 does not.)

The Polar will be the warmer suit despite its thinner arms and legs because of the attached hood (which eliminates water leaking in between the suit and hood), denser neoprene, and more advanced wrist and ankle seals.

Augustus,

I just purchased the ME 5 and I wore the suit this past weekend for the first time. Just to let you know, the water temp was 60 and I wasn't cold at all nor even felt the slightest chill on a hour long dive. I can't even imagine how hot the 7mm would be. The 5mm M.E. really surprised me with its warmth. I'm from Ohio and the water temps can get quite chilly here and from my lone experience with the 5 mm suit, I'll probably be able to wear it until atleast the the 2 week of October.
