Hi Acrespo,
The closest good diving near Madrid is in the province of Valencia and Alicante - about 400kms away so not exactly a day trip, but ok for a weekend.
I have friends who dive a river, the Júcar,and they say it's acceptable if you can't make it to the coast.
If you would like more specific info let me know.

We drove from Milan for a weekend diving at the Medas Islands, near Barcelona/Gerona. Diving is great and the hotel at this link has good all-inclusive packages.
