Sea Lion Season

A freelance writer has contacted me asking when he should come to Monterey to do a story about diving with Sea Lions. So now it hits me that I really don't know! There are some times of year when the pier at Breakwater is covered with Sea Lions and some other times when they are all out at sea feeding. But I've never made note of which was which. Can anybody say definitively when it is that the pier is always thick with Sea Lions?
