I've seen that movie "The Abyss". Very well done, nothing else can be expected from James Cameron.
As the article says, a lot of investigation has been done by the Navy and private investigators since a lot of years, but no military nor commercial device has been released based in those principles.
Time will show, but seems to be pretty complicated to be ready to do a beach dive a sunday afternoon.
 
True. My father is a doctor and he seems to think it is impossible to happen. Too many variables at play, but who knows.
