Hi,

I'm looking at getting the Apeks WTX Harness with the WTX3 Buoyancy Cell and the Single Tank Adapter...
But i'm getting it so that i can travel light. So therefore i'm not going to get a backplate.

So does anyone have much experience with this harness without the bp? Does it work ok?

TIA
Rich.

I have that harness and it works well without the bp, pretty comfy harness if you want to use double's you can get away without using the bp

I'll only be using a single tank for now.
Do you use the STA?

Oh, and are you using the WTX3 Buoyancy Cell? or a bigger or different one? Any problems with it riding up (as mentioned in another post)?

Only that the wing seems to sit to high, but it wasn't a problem. Other than that I've not had a problem with the wtx harness

I have that rig as well, tho' I see no need for a single tank adaptor... I've used mine with tanks ranging from 80cf - 120cf , there has never been a need for an adaptor.

The only reason you would need a backplate is if you wished to use it for doubles, but then you'd probably want something a lil' bigger than the WTX3's 32 lbs of lift.

A couple of things. I have had two of them. I'm 6'3" med chest and found the large too big for me. Exchanged for a medium and was perfect. I feel that they come rather large. Keep that in mine if you can't ry it on. I also hated the Apeks 34-35 lb wing. Too large and tall. I sold it and bought a Dive Rite 30lb wing which was extremely streamlined and made a great system. The weight pouches are expensive extra but can't be beat. Hope that helps.

Did you have any difficulty threading the Dive Rite wing to the WTX Harness? I've read several negative comments about the WTX3 and I was investigating other options.

If you are moving from a jacket style BC to the WTX3 then make sure you are happy with the kidney dump. The dump will wrap around the cylinder a bit and be further back than you may be used to. If you're not too flexible it may be a problem. Apart from that it's a great setup. The Surelock intergated weights work really well too if you need them.

Not at all, the Apeks wing is just plain ugly.

Nope. I use it with the older style Venture 40lb wing. No STA, No BP. I do however use a coupe of Stainless Steel plates for added trim weight. But I don't take them when traveling by air. I just toss in a couple of 2lb soft weight pouches at my destination site.
