While you may be lucky enough to stumble upon a naturally inquisitive blue or mako shark on the edge of one of California's lush kelp forests, your best bet is to head out to blue water where the continental shelf steepens before plunging into the deep Pacific.

I think back to the days when we used to count the number of blues from the boat on our way to the dive sites.

At least we can still see a few diving in the blue:

You can spot mako sharks during aal the year in California or what are the best months to see them?
 
Wow that poor blue shark looks like he got stuck with a massive fish hook, how sad!
