The Cozumel Red Cross has received a large donation of adult & pediatric oxygen masks in the USA and we need your help bringing them to Cozumel. These are used daily by the ambulance crews and each mask is only good for one patient, so this is a wonderful gift!
The masks are individually bagged and are sterile, so care in packing is important -- it's best to fold or roll them into garments that will protect the bags from punctures.
The masks are currently in New York and can be mailed in batches of between 6 and 14 anywhere in the continental USA. 6-7 masks are the equivalent of 1/2 a Priority Mail shoebox.
There is absolutely no cost to you for doing this. The US charity, Friends of Cruz Roja Cozumel, will pay the postage to your address. Pick up in Cozumel can be arranged if you don't want to visit the Red Cross.
Please let me know if you can help. email: cozredcross (at) earthlink (dot) net
Thank you!

There are 600 masks, so it will take a while to get them all down here. And there is usually something waiting for transport from the USA, so we're always grateful for offers of help at any time. Every item we receive is lightweight and easy to pack and none have needles or require an Rx -- though the last bit is subject to change if MX Customs reinstates our permission to import those products.

As long as parcels are shipped via USPS to Canada from the States then the parcels bypass the customs brokers. If they ship via couriers then issues happen in delays and ridiculous broker fees. I rarely have anything that takes longer than two weeks to get to me from the U.S.
My wife works for Canadian Blood Services, maybe they can send it to her office.

Kevin, I know you're anxious to help -- you always are! Francis frequently ships to Canada via USPS in the regular course of his business and every item must be correctly marked and every package requires a customs declaration -- those are the rules and, unfortunately, we can't meet them with these masks.
However, I'd like to propose an alternative: There must be medical supply houses in Canada that stock what we use at prices we can afford. Let me do some research to see if we can buy there and ship to you. If you know any good sources, please let me know. We may be able to set up something really beneficial, based in Canada, similar to what we have in the USA. That would be very cool if you're interested.
I'm going to Cancun in a little while, so don't expect action today.
Thank you & All best,
Deb

I have a friend heading to Cozumel this Saturday. I sent her your request, and she sent an email. Not sure if time constraints will permit this to happen, but I tried.

Deb,
I would be happy to be a mule! I am headed there Feb. 3rd. and willing to bring as many as you think will fit in my suitcase. I have a house in Coz where I keep all my crap, so I don't generally take much. I would be happy to bring a big suitcase filled with just the masks. Feel free to PM me for my address and other info.

Sorry if this is a stupid question-- but why can't you just UPS all the material directly to Cozumel? Is it a red-tape issue? cost? customs?

Yes. For many reasons, this is the most sensible, straightforward, and sure way to get inexpensive, bulky donations to Cozumel.
