On King5 news this morning they said almost all fishing in Hood Canal has been closed due to the unusual amount of Dead fish and Octo that have been observed. anyone have any more info on this???

Finally found an article in the Oregonian that explained the closure is due to poor oxygen levels in the water, which they explained causes the fish to rise to the surface. They implied that this would make fishing too easy. The conditions were worse the further south you go. They did however indicate that you could harvest crabs, but I thought the canal was closed last spring for crabbing. Is crabbing open again?

Bill.

Last time I was at the canal (over Labor Day weekend), the crab pots were out and everyone was pulling them in. I assume, therefore, that the crabbing is open.
