I am trying to plan a trip south for mid October. Being from the great white north, I don't tend to pay much attention to hurricanes. (We worry more about blizzards and ice storms, which pale in comparison...)

Can one of you experts tell me the relative odds of avoiding hurricanes and generally cruddy weather at this time of year in say Bonaire vs. Cayman or Turks & Caicos?

I've always wanted to see a hurricane up close, but I'd rather not do it from a dive boat!=-)

Bonaire is generally considered to be outside of the hurricane zone although they did get some damage from high waves a few years back. Cayman and TCI are definitely not outside the zone.
