It seems like a long time since the last Alert Diver issue arrived, but I just received the Sept./Oct. issue. There's a good article on free diving, but look at the picture of the diver on pages 32-33. Is it me, or is there something funny about this picture?

I'm having flashbacks of the Saturday morning tv show "Land of the Lost".

Looking at the picture now. Not following you unless you are talking about the eyes in the mask. They do seem a bit funny looking to me.

Looks like the diver filled the mask with something to reduce the volume, leaving just a tiny hole to peak out from. I saw it being done in the movie 'The Big Blue'. Makes sense if you're going down to 400ft. You can't spare any air to equalize your mask. You probably can't exhale at all because the lung pretty much gets squeezed out after 165ft.
