Fort Lauderdale dive

Hi, I will be assiting to a Telecom meeting in Fort Lauderdale Coral Springs and as I will have some time free I would like to know which are my diving alternatives. I will be there alone so I will have to join a dive group or an instabuddy.
I would prefer sea dive.
Please, tell me your recomendations.

I like Parrot Island out of Pompano, good charter. That would be my tip, get on a boat! One of my favorites is called the 5 wreck trek, you drift dive on 5 wrecks all connected by markers. I also like the Mercedes and the 2 and 3rd reefs. There is some shore diving off of the Commercial Pier, real shallow, but still very interesting. There are actually several spots to swim out and see morays, nurse sharks and other fun critters. There are lots of boats that can hook you up with a buddy and lots of places to choose from.
