I have tried to mount my compass on my wrist and have not had any luck. with the compass mounted on my wrist I have trouble reading it when I bring my arm perpendicular to my body to properly read the compass, it ends up to close to my mask. I have resorted to attaching the compass to a small retractor and letting it dangle from my left chest d-ring.

I have no issue reading my compass on my left wrist. Using a retractor dangling from the left chest d-ring is not "DIR". Do you have a specific question? Meeting up with some divers successfully using wrist-mounted compasses might help.

Yes I am well aware if this.

Do you have a specific question?

Yes how you read your compass? Do you bring your arm perpendicular to your body in front of you to get a proper bearing? As I said in my prior post with my arm perpendicular to my body the compass is two close to my mast to read. Any other suggestions or in site would be helpful.

In the northeast I have not found any yet. And trying to find other DIR divers is well, needle in haystack comes to mind. I guess I was just asking if anyone else has had an issue with reading a wrist mounted compass?

Left arm out in front and a just a bit below eye level. Arm is not fully perpendicular to body (but compass is slightly offset to compensate for this). It is not too close to read.

I lived and dived in MA for several years. There is a decent GUE community and two GUE instructors in the NE. Perhaps try to hook up with one of them?

I've had no issue reading my wrist-mounted compass.

I'm not sure why yours is too close to your mask. What compass do you have? How are you wrist-mounting it? Do you have any pictures/video of you trying to read it? Over how many dives did you try this setup? Did you try making adjustments? If so, what, and did they help/hurt?

I have a SK7 in the stock boot, I will probably order a DSS boot so it can be of set.

I have and use the SK7 in the DSS boot with no issues. If you want to try one out in the DSS boot let me know. I live on the North Shore in MA.

How do you read your computer? Or watch for that matter?

I can read my wrist slate, computers fine. They do not have to be directly in front of me like a compass has to to follow a bearing.

Thanx for the offer. The DSS boot is not to expensive so I think I will just order one.
