My buddies and I are flying in on Friday to grab 7 dives over Fri, Sat and Sun. I have been checking the weather for 2 weeks and it has looked great...Sunshine and 8's....now weather.com is saying thunderstorms. CRAP!!!!
Does anyone have any better forecast? Anyone down there seeing a different forecast?
Palancar Caves, Cedral Pass, Felipe', Devil's Throat...I miss you all

Rain won't cancel your diving.
If you're talking about next weekend as in 6 days from now - who knows what the weather will be that far out - this is the tropics. Finally, even if the forecast hols true - it says SCATTERED showers and thunderstorms.
Don't worry about the forecast and enjoy your vacation!

Looks like the weather is forecast to be delightful really. You can't put much faith in detailed forecasts more than a day out, but in general - very nice.
A bigger risk would be connecting in DFW as springtime weather there can be a real game changer. Houston, not so likely. Have a great trip, :pilot: hydrate early and often. Take biodegradable sun block as you can still get burned even if you get some intermittent clouds.

Palancar Caves, Cedral Pass, Felipe', Devil's Throat...I miss you allFuhgeddaboudit. In the first place, there's nothing you can do about the weather so there's no point in fretting over it. I never even look at the forecasts before I go to Cozumel; the only thing it could affect is my attitude. In the second place, it's not unusual for the Wunderground site to predict "thunderstorms" or "chance of a thunderstorm" every day for a month or more. All it usually means is that there is a chance that one of those puffy little clouds could blow up into a shower. It could be raining for a bit at La Ceiba and be bone dry in town.
Don' worry, be happy.

Brrrrr at 39F here! :cold: Spring is such a fickle lady.
Hehe, I had volunteer pumpkins coming up on my compost yesterday. Saw a robin out just now. He's like WTH? Maybe I should bring in my hummingbird feeder?

Actually it is rare NOT to see thunderstorms in the forecast.
If they do develop they are usually brief.
However, do check the forecast for the direction of the wind. The dreaded Norte can interfere with diving.

He booked his trip on April Fool's Day. Shall I call :troll: ?
Have a good trip, dude. No weather worries for you if you can get thru Texas ok. Let's just call this a fun thread. Lubbock certainly needs to warm up as currently promised by Weather Underground. My granddaughter's birthday is also Friday but we're having the yard carnival on Saturday. No tornadoes invited...!!

And it matters little to your diving if the thunderstorms occur in the later afternoon, evening or night, right? It seldom rains all day long....

I have never been rained out on a golf course and especially never rained out underwater... Actually it looks pretty cool when you are u/w and it is raining...

Just be careful on the golf course if there's lightning around. I'm told that several people a year get killed by lightning on golf courses.

One of my favorite memories from my first dive trip to Coz was nearly freezing to death during SI on Scuba Club's Reef Star in a thunderstorm, finally getting to jump into the warm water, and descending on my back, watching and listening to the never-before-heard sound of the rain on the surface above :) Enjoy your trip! Don't worry, be happy...

I'm freezin' my old butt off here in Jimmy Dean land. You come to Plainview and I'll go give on site weather reports from some after diver beach bar. :snowbear: Brrrrr!

A rip snorter of a cold front blew through here yesterday morning. I'll wager Cozumel feels its effects by tomorrow.

That was a wild one. 89 on Sunday up here (record of 93, depending on whom you quote), followed by 53 max Monday and frost warnings that night. Ah, springtime in Texas.
Coz looks balmy all week tho: 92255

Wow! You had almost the exact same weather in Tx as we had in KC MO on Sunday and Monday! :shocked2:It was nearly 90 on Sunday here in Austin, and it's 59 out on my deck right now (nearly noon on Tuesday). Looking at satellite imagery, the leading edge of the front is approaching the Yucatan, but the main thrust of it seems to be veering to the east.

Only about 600 miles as the crow flies and for a norther not nearly that much in latitude difference. They do sweep across the Plains without slowing...

I felt that way until I flew to Coz in spite of NHC warnings on H.Dean. Every few years, there is a time to punt. :shocked2:
Granddaughter's yard party went nicely. 92260
Six of the girls stayed for a slumber party so I split. GD gets rambunctious at times (I really watched her closely on the Grand Canyon trip!) and she got carried away again...

I haven't heard what she was jumping on? The day before the Grand Canyon, we drove across the Navajo and Hopi reservations and I turned off for a quick look at Coal Mine Canyon (http://www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/coal-mine-canyon/) - a secret place on a ranch road you use have to know about as it is not marked. I watched her closely there and got some caution scared into her...

but not a lot. She kept jumping at all sites, even 3 days later at Walnut Canyon...
