ScubaPro Mask at Hathaway Bridge Span 4/3/11

Lost my ScubaPro Clear Vu4 mask at the conclusion of my last dive today April 3, 2011 at one of the inshore Hathaway Bridge spans off Panama City Beach, FL. It has a blue frame, a black and blue ScubaPro neoprene strap cover and bonded prescription lenses. The boat took an unexpected roll to port just as I was at the top of the ladder, causing me to lose balance and drop back into the water, stripping my mask off. I had already handed my fins up to the deckhand and my mask sank too fast for me to catch it fully geared with just booties on.

Yeah, me too. I forgot how much those lenses were to have bonded in there. Ouch! Unfortunately, I was the last one up the line, the Divemaster had already untied us from the span so we were drifting, and with the slight current that was running, even if the deckhand had thrown me back my fins and someone had thrown me a mask, by time I started down it would have been like finding the proverbial needle. Plus, I had already made one bounce during that dive escorting students up to their safety stop and a third descent probably wouldn't have been the safe thing to do.

Now you just have an excuse to return

I've already went to the shop and picked up a new mask (one of the new SubGear models); now I've got to find my last prescription to get new lenses ground and bonded. Like I told the students, you do this long enough, you're going to lose something expensive; last Sunday, it was my turn.
