I have heard there are some good spots for Scalloping in FL near Cedar Key/Tampa area...true?

There are several excellent sites north and south of Cedar Key for scallops but the problem is the season is over. It ran from July 1st thru September 10, and will not start again until July 1st, 2004. Also, the scallop grounds are only open from the Pasco/Hernando county line north, so Tampa is too far south but the Homosassa and Crystal River areas were open.
