Well, since my original post got no responses I thought I'd post again:

We have been to the Keys several times. Mostly to fish and snorkel and mostly in the Islamorada/Key Largo area. This time we are staying just north of Marathon in a condo we rented once before. We are diving with Scuba Shack one day. The rest of the time we plan to fish, snorkel and do some watersports. We are bringing our own boat that we will be snorkeling from. Our closest ocean access is Vaca Cut. We have some non-divers with us so we'd like to treat them to the best snorkeling available. My question is where is the best snorkeling spot near that area? I am thinking Sombrero Reef. Are there more sites that anyone can recommend? I know that when we are closer to Islamorada we really enjoy Hens and Chickens. I love the huge coral formations there.

Sorry I can;t help you with any of that as we have always used the dive boats...
Since you are diving with Key Largo Scuba Shack why don't you ask them. They might be able to give you some advice...
