I just don't log dives
we elected to head north for the holidays, south carysfort reef that is. i'll let the pictures tell the story. simply electrifying dives! it was a challenge for tim to shoot today as the viz was mediocre and the sharks and groupers somewhat timid. light winds, sunshine, zero current, blue water; viz 70FT+ above 20ft versus green water ; viz 35-40FT below 20FT to the sand(strange), 80F. positon, southern carysfort SPA boundary, no mooring ball, 65-75FT. many more sharks(5-6 reef sharks and one nurse), rays, african pompano, large dog snapper and groupers(2 goliaths and dozens of black and scamp) than tim was capable of capturing considering the viz and lens. the sharks and rays were present throught out the two, 70 minute dives(36 mix),,,,,,,,,,,,,

estimated eagle ray #s in photos(counting tails!!). i counted over 20 in both schools!!

carysfort reef, the northern most reef depicted on the map. click carysfort and it gives a basic map and description. we dove the southwest boundary, 60-75ft. only a few dive operators visit carysfort, rarely if ever on the deeper sites(no mooring balls),,,,,,,,

Where is your boat docked? Carysfort is really a RUN from Tavernier

MM102, just off south creek. the site is aproxx 12 miles from the headpin entrance of south creek and another 3 miles to the carysfort lighthouse. it is a long run but well worth it as this SPA recieves the least amount of divers and snorkelers outside of the dry tortugas in the FKNMS. most of the time there's nobody moored on south carysfort(9 mooring balls), even on weekends. iv'e observed only blue iguana charters, silent world and the operator based @ the ocean reef club, diving and or snorkeling the carysfort area(and infrequently @ best),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

We will be diving the City of Washington and have done several dives in that area. Maybe KLSS goes there.
So apparently you live down there. Must be nice. we have 19 days and counting down!
