I was looking for on the net and in past threads for scuba equipment insurance especially against flooding but from companies located in Canada and can't seem to find any. Anybody have past experience or suggestions ??

Oh by the way i have insurances for any diving accident already so DAN doesn't work since equipment insurance can only be added on to an initial insurance.

thanks

The only two insurance co's that insure against photo-equipment flooding are DEPP and DAN.

I have DEPP, had one major flood - the repair cost more than the value of a used strobe on eBay - they covered 100%

They are based in the US as well as DAN - their location does not seem to matter much - in most cases, you send your photo equipment to US to be repaired in any case

DEPP would also ask you to add 3 non-photo items to the insirance, like BCD, regs...

In some cases, you homeowners insirance would cover cost of damaged equipment, it is worthwhile checking into that as it could be much cheaper

I have DEPP for my camera, and have had 1 "rescue" due to flooding. I've always had professional, curteous service.

The company that I had to send the camera to even offered a loaner (at no cost) to me when it appeared that my camera might not be back in time for a vacation down south -- now that's what I call customer service.

Since we have been in the US since '98, we have been using DEPP for all our scuba gear, including our multiple still & video cameras.

Good to see that they are also taking good care of da cousins North of the 49th, eh?! :thumb:
