Ok long story short I bought a Dive Rite SMB, it is a nice bright yellow high quality bag...that had a bad OPV. I bought one, and in my first AOW class last year, first time I pulled the OPV cord the whole outer piece snapped right off. So I was with my instructor and person that sold it to me (for something like $90), and he just took it back to his shop and replaced it the next day at the second day of dives.
So it went into the dive bag and didn't get used until I went on a vacation in December/January. I used it on one dive and when getting to the surface, I pulled the cord on the OPV to deflate it, and guess what...it fell apart.
So now its past the return period to my LDS, and I emailed Dive Rite, they let me know that they stopped making bags with two part valves in 09' so my shop must have had it in stock for a year before I bought it. They were willing to send me a new one at $60 if I sent the old one back.
I did the math and figured $10 to mail it back, $60 for the new one and I was out a perfect bag missing one part and $70 spent on a new one. I just ordered a new 6' HOG bag in orange today from DRIS ($50, $10 shipping - $12 loyalty points) so have a replacement coming yet I still have my old Dive rite bag I feel would be a shame to not fix.
Any creative types that either know where I can get a new inner piece to fix this bag cheap or other ideas?
I'll attach some pics of the broken piece, and whole deal, thanks for any ideas.
