Warren_L October 12th, 2003, 06:22 PM Big thanks to Big Jim and Northern Tech Divers for a wonderful day diving on the Vicki Marie. Great weather, a little choppy, and great wrecks! knives October 13th, 2003, 07:02 PM Hi . Missed you on Saturday...great day as well, we did the Marsh and Glendora....and I actually remembered a towel this time...:D what did you dive?:) Anne Kevin R October 13th, 2003, 07:48 PM We did the Cornwall and Aloha / Effie May. First time on Big Jim's boat. He puts on a good charter. Kevin Warren_L October 13th, 2003, 09:02 PM Yep, did the cornwall first. It was a little choppy, but went to some calmer waters for the second dive at the aloha/effie mae. Met up with Kevin and a few others. Great day in all. Won't be in K-town next weekend - diving the Keystorm in Brockville. Will have to catch up with you - perhaps the week after. wetman October 13th, 2003, 11:45 PM We did the davie and wolf on sunday. Damn that was a choppy one. However, i was the only one that held my stomach! steve Kaos October 14th, 2003, 01:10 AM Did the Katie Eccles and the City of Sheboygan yesterday (Monday). First time in over 5 years that I get to dive a new Kingston Wreck. Big thanks to Tom and Wayne at Northern Tech Diver!!!! vlada October 14th, 2003, 09:02 AM put them here: Glendora (http://community.webshots.com/album/46967520QJAagR) Marsh (http://community.webshots.com/album/44443894PovFaS) Will scan Sunday ones later this week Vlada DeepScuba October 14th, 2003, 10:27 AM Vlada: Nice pics!!! I just went throough a few of them that you have on your site. It's funny to see how the wrecks have changed since your photos. (Port Dalhousie wreck) is the one I'm refering to mainly. We "Locals" call it the Tiller for obvious reasons. We've also had a few A$$HOLE$ steal some stuff off of it this year. A couple beautiful plates and some other "Ceramics". They were all found and then stolen this year :-( What a pi$$-off. Why can't they just leave it alone like they (mostly) do in Kingston? Tom R October 14th, 2003, 10:36 AM It's the thought of the long swim home, I believe that kind of turns them off. Tom DeepScuba October 14th, 2003, 11:00 AM Yeah, but rumor has it they went out one day in a Zodiac, and scoop, it was gone. Man I'm still cheesed about it. There was only 3 pieces of "Ceramic" found to date, all this year. I found the first 2. Since we only have the one wreck in the area, we have come to feel that this is "Our" wreck. Although it's totally silly to think it, I'm sure one could understand. Actually, when the wreck was first discovered in 1996, I wasn't even a diver, let alone have anythign to do with it. It was "opened up" to the general public for regular charters 2 years ago. I have done almost 2 dozen dives on it (OK I'm sick, (It's not THAT terrific) but with only 1 to dive in the area, it gets the pick every time!). Anyways, we're territorial about it, and then we find out that everything is gone except for a wooden "pulley" really ticks you off. We've vowed to lynch the offenders, and create a secondary wreck, called the "Zodiac" a short distance away from the "Tiller". divedude October 14th, 2003, 11:38 PM wlo93 once bubbled... It was fabulous. Lots of room, clean, shelter from the rain and cold and a very helpful captain..... see you next time... ;) DeepScuba October 15th, 2003, 03:20 PM Yes Big Jim has got to be the hardest working boat Captain there is. He's always out there ripping fins off when you're getting back on the boat, and before that, stuffing everyone into the water quickly, in an organized fashion. Great operation!!! wetbehindtheear October 15th, 2003, 03:41 PM who's this famous "big jim"? what's his boat & rates like? website? any contact info for booking charters? knives October 15th, 2003, 04:02 PM Big Jim's boat is the Vicki Marie ,he can be reached at big jim (http://kingstondiving.com/) some other excellent charter boats are: Harold on the Seaducer and DW charters which can be reached thru NTDhttp://www.northerntechdiver.com ... I have not had the pleasure of going out on The Great white or Brook-Lauren , but I have met the Captains and look forward to going out with them next year...here is a link to some info on kingston charters.... http://www.gtcs.org/charter.html divedude October 15th, 2003, 05:27 PM wetbehindtheear once bubbled... who's this famous "big jim"? what's his boat & rates like? website? any contact info for booking charters? NOT Famous................Just old and fat I've got about 12 dives and worked my dive boat for a couple of weeks. :) :) Thanks Knives and DeepScuba cat October 16th, 2003, 06:15 PM Gasoline powered therefore no diesel fumes. Thanks for a couple of really nice dives, Big Jim. And thanks to Vlada, Tom, knives, et alia for letting the three of us tag along on the video shoot. Was a pity to find out that artifacts are no longer sacred for some, even in Kingston - my buddy MWC was sorry to find several that he knew from previous trips to the Marsh had vanished :( Dagnabbit - missed meeting a few more of you yet again by not staying in Kingston for the Sunday - we went up to Brockville instead. (Rothesay made a nice little night dive - BTW - lots of big fish) DeepScuba October 18th, 2003, 09:45 AM Hey Big Jim, what are your charter plans for the next 4-6 weeks? I'm not sure how late into the season you work, and right now I'm trolling our guys for a last kick at the cat for this year, and of course the Kingston area gets the pick. I'm off to Cozumel the 2nd week of Nov, so I was thinking after that, but I'm wondering if everyone's going to be off the water by then. (Hey man, I just dive, I have no clue what you guy have to know, I'm still looking for your brake pedal and emergency brake :-)) Hehheh I'll have a better idea after my post on our board has had a chance to be viewed for a few days, on just who's interested. Regards. P.S. It would probably be a one day/two dive thing. The usual tiring rush on a weekend. So it seems even Kingston isn't immune to wreck strippers? divedude October 18th, 2003, 04:04 PM DeepScuba once bubbled... Hey Big Jim, what are your charter plans for the next 4-6 weeks? Next weekend is the last "kick at the cat" Oct 25-26 then it's time to get out and put away for the winter ;-0 I still have room if your interested "or anyone else for that. Tom R at NTD may still have some thing going on later than that, the smaller boats are easier to get in and out than the larger boats that need cranes and special equipment to layup for winter. DeepScuba October 18th, 2003, 04:24 PM Damn, we can't. We're doing the Waome that weekend. Thanks for the reply, just the same. See ya next year....For sure! (Hope your son is doing well).
