From what i understand its dangerous to fly after diving since decompression sickness is more likely at higher altitudes, so i have to wait till the nitrogen is eliminated from my body.

What im not sure of does flying before a dive pose any health threats

Only one very minor, easily avoided one and that is dehydration. Airplace air is dry so you tend to dehydrate some. This is easy to avoid, just drink water/juice on the plane and down a bottle or 2 as soon as you can after you get off. While dehydration is a major diving concern, it is easy to avoid and quick to cure.......oh and one more ... plane crashes. :)

Welcome to the board.

And avoid alcohol on the plane, which will dehydrate you even more.
