It certainly looks like a Great White. One of the largest ones ever caught was caught of Cuba in the 1940's. I have read reports of them being seen in the Bahamas before and quite regularly until Jaws came out and they were slaughtered! They must use the gulf stream to move up and down the coast so without doubt they would be about all be it in small numbers.
 
I freely admit I pee in my wetsuit......but what woulda' happened in my wetsuit if this had been my encounter is not an item that could be discussed in polite company.

Just check out the Ichthyology Dept./bio profiles on the Florida Museum of natural History website, very detailed write-ups, including geographical distribution, on all the potentially dangerous shark species. Good info, in case you'd like to know what's around in the area, you're diving. Of course that doesn't mean, you'll ever see see one, but...
