Here is the link to the story. Does anyone know anything about this. He is a local dive legend in Tuscaloosa.

My brother lives in Tuscaloosa - he called me tonight to ask me about this. My info comes from the diver's good friend there and as such is much speculation.

As I understand it he was in a spearfishing tournament and diving in deep water (beyond 150'). He surfaced with blood on his face, made contact with his dive buddies on the boat, saying he was going back under to decompress, and then did not resurface.

That is all that I have been told. Any more would be super-speculation.

As I understand it he was extremely experienced. Not that experienced divers can't make mistakes...
