Well we had a good time Camping and diving the Canso area but we did get a hassle from a local Diver who takes people out to Grassy Is. for tours in his boat. One of our group got dressed on the shore of the island and started out from there. The local came out to our boats and stated that he took pictures of us on shore and stated that this was against the law and he had reported us to Parks Canada. There are no signs posted anywhere and no stay clear buoys and we also did not find any info on the internet indicating you must have a guide when on the island. I think that the guy is of his rocker but we didn't want to get into it with the locals over this as we were not intending on going to the island anyway.
The dives were good but nothing to find other then a few small scallops. We wanted to head over to Little Dover as well on Sunday for a splash but the winds picked up that mourning so we scrubbed it and did a little sight seeing instead before heading home.
Bottom line, it is a long drive to just dive in-shore and get hassled from the locals. The area is very exposed so you get a lot of wind and fog. If you head there for just a weekend it is hit or miss with the weather so it would be best to plan for a week and you might get in a few good days of diving. There are better places to go in NS so I would say pick another spot.
