In a continuing effort to increase diver safety during Florida's lobster mini-season, Divers Alert Network® (DAN®) will once again join Reef Ministries for the 2011 Revive Your Dive! event on July 24, 2011, at the City of Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Each year's mini-lobster season sees a significant increase in the number of dive injuries and fatalities in the excitement to track and catch Caribbean spiny lobsters. Medical conditions, poor diving procedures and techniques, and equipment problems are often contributing factors in these accidents. Divers understand the need for scuba refresher training, health screens and equipment servicing but are often reluctant to pursue them because of financial considerations or time restrictions.
Revive Your Dive! is a free one-day event where divers can partake of safety-related services to help prepare them for upcoming diving activities.
