As I sat (lay) in my dentists chair, waiting for my root canal. Trying not to over breath the cool flow of nitrous as it swirls around my nose. My mind wanders far, very scary if you know me, I discovered the solution to my leaky mask! I must confess, I'm a nose breather, there I said it I feel better now. As I try to get the most out of my nitrous experience, in through the nose and out through the mouth, slow, deep, enjoy. Wait I digress, I'm having a difficult time exhaling through my mouth, I have to actually think about exhaling out my mouth. While diving I constantly exhale out my nose and it bubbles out my mask into my hood. That reminds me I need to melt a hole in the back my head (hood) to release said bubbles. Anyway, the first 10 minutes of the dive my mask is fine, then it slowly starts to leak. I guess constantly breaking the seal eventually starts to let water in, I think I'm on to something here. By the way I'm not Nitrox certified yet but have a question. If it has a higher content of oxygen why is it called Nitrox? Should it not be called Oxtrox? Anyhow back to my lightbulb moment, is there a easy way to train myself to breath out my mouth only when I dive? I have enough to think about already and don't really need something else to concentrate on. Thanks for letting me ramble, any suggestions will be forwarded to the appropriate department.
