How do you take all your gear to the dive site or dive boat? I went to catalina with my AKona backpack holding all my gear but still hand to hand carry my tank.

Carry singles/sidemount, wear doubles. If carrying the tank puts you off balance, put it on your shoulder to get it closer to your center of gravity.

That is how I have to do it. I hope someone else shares a better way with us.

Shore dives (I use only single tanks): Wear all gear if at all possible to get to the water (no sand at all in reg.). Or if too far, I use a dolly and put it all in there.
Boat dives: I just carry it all--never has been very far from car to boat.

Went to Catalina for the OW class. I used a dolly to hold the tank that was attached to the BC. The rest of my gear was on my backpack gear bag. It was helpful, but I wished I had a dolly with air tires for a less bumpy roll to the boat. The other students just wore their BC and tank and carried the rest of their gear by hand. The walk from the parking lot to the boat in Long Beach isn't too bad.

Here's how I do it for Catalina trips.

For boat dives on a dive boat, I've started assembling my whole rig (tank, BCD, regulator, safety sausage, etc. at home the night before). I put that on a push care to get it from the car to the boat and back. I've decided this reduces the risk of forgetting something or mis-assembling it in the early morning. I can put the rig at my station and get right into a bunk. I'm not too proud to make two trips to the car.

If I'm going over on the ferry, I put the tank on a push cart and carry everything else in my rolling gear bag. (I take a taxi from the ferry terminal to Casino point.

I wonder if there is a way to strap it to my Akona Roller Backpack AKB144 with a strap of some sort. Wonder if the handle would support that weight? dolly with air tires... hmmm

I haven't done a shore dive yet, but its a good 60 yards from parking to the water. I plan on just wearing the bc with tank and reg already assembled. Carry the snorkel mask and fins.
