It's making a Cat-3 landing. I think the map is auto updating...

It's a pretty serious storm... very high wind speeds here in Manila. There's going to be some damage, I expect.

Stay safe. I am pretty relaxed about Cat 1's and even Cat 2's, but a Cat 3 is as good a reason as you get to start worrying, no matter how strong your house is.

Strong winds & some rain here on Panglao,Alona Beach yesterday. Today just calm & overcast. I may go to Balacasag for (3) dives tomorrow when things settledown.

I think the second map is auto updating. Looks like the whole island is engulfed in some hard weather. I chatted with a friend on the north shore of Luzon a day ago. She said her house was near the shore but well built. I suggested going to a shelter, but she's been thru many of these - I haven't. Well, she says she's close to Aparri and it's only showing 22 mph wind & overcast so I guess that map is not really indicative.

Winds were very severe here in Manila this AM. Seem to have lightened since lunchtime, but may just be the eye?! Lots of news reports showing major flooding in the bay area, fallen trees, walls and advertising boards. 7 confirmed deaths in Manila so far, plus 6 missing fishermen.

Collapsed advertising board on South-Superhighway/Buendia in Manila. MMDA (government transport agency) is pressing for the authority to remove the tarp adverts from these things when storm warnings come. This one was within earshot of my condo... probably one of the big 'crashes' I heard this morning.

Video of the same:
