I will be in the area for business trip and can't pass up the opportunity to get in the water. I only have 30 Sep available and would appreciate finding a dive buddy if someone may be interested.

I have never dove at Catalina Island before, although I have in San Diego and a couple of times in Monterrey. I have about 430 dives mostly in the Lake Ontario, St. Lawrence river and Caribbean. I will be in a dry suit and use air or nitrox whatever my buddy uses. I will be using a camera as well.

I would hope to get in two dives if possible.

Anyone interested?

Thanks

Jim

I JUST did this as a new park diver as well. There's a pretty good chance you can find a buddy there if no one responds. If you're carrying a bunch, I recommend having your gear hauled ($8 round trip), and the community there is a good bunch of folks, so it will be safe.

If you haven't yet, read the sticky near the top of this forum which has some good info.

Thanks for the suggestions "undrwater". I have read the sticky and will use the gear transport service.

No responses yet for a buddy. If I don't here from anyone I will try to find one there.

Gosh I wish I could go, but have swimmers ear right now.
Friday the weather should be good. The gear transport system works quite well. By the time you make the walk to the point, your gear will be waiting for you. Remember to call them for pick up 10 minutes or so before your ready to take the walk back or have lunch.
You won't have any problem finding someone to hook up with as most folks are quite friendly.
Not sure if you need to dive Nitrox as the park, for the most part it is less 60'. The wrecks like the sue jac are sitting at about 90'
If you read the sticky, you got most of the info.
I would add that I enjoy the outdoor cafe next to the casino, called casino dock cafe.
They make a nice tuna melt and fish tacos.
Enjoy and have fun.

Thanks for the suggestions Blue Steal.

I've now actually changed my plan and decided to go with Sundiver instead which makes my planning much simpler and actually cheaper so please now ignore my request for a dive buddy.

I will try to get to the island during some other visit.

Thanks

Jim

Sundiver express is a fast boat. Great coffee with a continental breakfast. The DM Jules is a great gal. Parking is free and if I am not mistaken they can provide tanks. Enjoy your day at Catalina.

lol at the beginning of your post I was going to recommend the Sundiver... My buddy and I dive on the Express all the time... Capt Kyaa, Capt Mike, Jules, Pine, etc. all good people... they provide the tanks and the weights... get there kind of early parking fills up quick in the FREE area... Enjoy your dive... if I wasnt going to Vegas I would be on the boat

I'm (probably) diving at the park on Saturday. (Actually, I'll be there Friday as well, but am taking someone discover diving.) if you're in dire need of a buddy on saturday, you can look around --- i'm probably the person there diving by themselves. :) Sunday i'll be out on a boat somewhere. (Hoping the King Neptune gets enough for Sunday --- looking doubtful right this second.)

Or you can PM me on scubaboard, which should generate email, which i'll see.
