Two New Years in a row in Bonaire...what the heck am I thinking? Anyway, for those that missed last year's trip report, you can read it here - http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20563.

This year, there are 3 of us headed down on Dec 31 and staying through Jan 7. We have room for a 4th and could probably expand beyond that if anyone else is interested. PM me for details.

Based on lessons learned last year, we plan to get there early enough to hook up with some tanks and ring in the new year somewhere on the reef.

If anyone else is going to be there during this time let us know and we will treat you to Amstel Brites at City Cafe or Karel's.

You know, when we sat down to plan a New Year's trip, we had no idea where to go, but we threw Bonaire in the ring because I mentioned going last year. Well, once the dust settled, it was the most bang for the diving buck and the other 2 people I am traveling with have never been there.

So, Bonaire it is! Why, you wanna skip out on your trip and come with us?? What are you diving on Bourbon Street? ;)

I'll be in Bonaire 2004 September ..when you really get the most bang for your buck.
On Bourbon street I'll be diving into the Hurricanes. :) Ever been there?

It's a little shocking, but I can't let Jep ruin the reputation of all Americans down there, so we have to go back on a goodwill mission. Well, that and we have to spay all the donkeys in case he decides to go back..

Weren't you the chick that ditched us last year? I am pretty sure you were. You weren't anywhere you said you would be.

Nice reliability...

I keep wondering why the heck I am still single...and then I go back and read something I posted and, surprisingly, it becomes pretty obvious.

Hi Natasha.....funny I just returned yesterday from New Orleans (Halloween weekend......still hung over...)

Have you been there before? I can give you some tips on what to do/not to do, from the things that I remember. I know hurricanes, raw oysters, and beads were involved........

Yeah that would be me. When I saw you, your friend and that donkey, I just turned and walked away.

I knew you would come up with something. Oh well, your loss. There are plenty of cool scubaboarders that don't have weird hangups about hanging out with new people. I'll just go find them while you solo dive and drink by yourself.

Nice, however memory isn't serving you very well right now....I invited you guys out and told you where I'd be staying, but you never showed. Ah well, from the sounds of it you would've been a buzz kill anyway.

When and where I drink alone is nobody's business and as far as that bag is concerned, I only brought mine in case yours tore, but that's me always thinking about the other guy.

#1 Smile more ..women just don't know what to think if you're smiling at them.

#2 Flowers pretty much work for anything.

#3 If it's really bad add chocolates ..never fails.

You might not be horrible to hang out with after all. Lemme know if the Paxil starts to kick in and we can grab a beer.

Remind me to pack duct tape for Eric's mouth. At least I only have to deal with him for the puddle jump flight.

Hey... if he behaves, the duct tape could be used for more *interesting* applications.

Natasha, don't forget to have Hurricanes at Pat O'Briens...also have one of those awesome doughnut type things with your Cafe au Lait...God, I just love that place. :)
New Years in New Orleans has to be alot of fun...cracks me up that anyone would actually flash someone for 50 cents worth of beads.
Eric, you crack me up...I can't believe you're going to Bonaire again...are you going to say hi to the same fish you saw last time you were there? ;) I have another suggestion to add to Natasha's list...
#4 talk less...girls will think you're mysterious and you won't be chewing on your foot for something you said
#5 leave the donkeys alone...I repeat...leave the donkeys alone :)

If I can find that wily sucker, I will definitely tell him hello again...if you have seen him, lemme know where so I can look for him. He's the parrotfish they have down there....the blueish one.

I am from Denver and I am looking for a trip in late December. What is the cost and I would like to find a place for a family of 5 - 6 divers.
thanks Ed

If you have a family along, you don't want to be near these jokers....esp O-ring. :)

If you have some questions about Bonaire, you would do better to start your own thread with a well worded question. A discription of what type of accomidations you want would be helpful, do you want a fancy place or will anything clean do? The Plaza is the most upscale place on the island that I am aware of. A couple of really nice mid range places that I can recommend are Sand Dollar, Lions Dive, Capt Don's and my personal favorite Buddy Dive. PM me if you like and I will be happy to tell you what I know about Bonaire. Also, drop by my other hangout, the Bonaire Board. Anything you want to know about Bonaire can be found there. www.Bonairetalk.com Oh yea, cost. I put together a trip for 6 divers last July from Raleigh. The cost ran around $1200pp This included airfare/3br condo/ breakfast/unlimited tank for shore diving/rental truck and airport xfers. The only other cost were lunch, supper and t-shirts and some misc stuff...about another $300pp. Your taste in food (hamburgers vs lobster) and bar bill can change the $300 by a lot.

www.bonairetalk.com is an awesome resource for the Bonaire bound. I haven't had a question about the place yet that I couldn't find an answer to over there.

I don't think I want to know what the more interesting applications are but remind ME to pack sufficient duct tape to deal with the both of you and possibly bluefin, too. Oh my - what *have* I let myself be nagged into? I'm going to be ruined for cold-water diving AND talked to death on the same trip...
Note to self - bring earplugs :D

Edited to add:
Alea jacta est and now they/we are four
