Aeris Atmos AI compass question

Has anyone removed the compass from one of these computers? I looked through the archives, and it appears that one can (at least in 2003).

Any more recent experience.

Any please, no responses telling me to leave the damn thing on!

I have not done it before but I have seen people that have taken it off so I know it can be done.
