This was in or near La Jolla in about 25fsw in or around the middle of October.

I thought an abalone at first, but it didn't have a hard shell.

Surge was 4-6' that day so I only got the one good shot.

Image taken with my GoPro in time-lapse mode (doh!)

Zoomed in, sharpened, and adjusted color with my fancy FBI software.

That's a big limpet! My limited experience with limpets is that they're small, hard shelled and china-hat shaped. This thing was round on top, not pointed at all. Maybe it's just a nickname and not a true limpet.

So is it a true limpet, or is that a nickname?

Was a good first dive in those waters. We came from AZ to dive, not used to surge LOL! None of that in our lakes. And any viz over 5' is considered very good! :D

Yeah, what Rainer said :easy:
