I was thumbing through the owner's manual for Poseidon's new Xstream series of regs and found a bit on how a long hose can serve as a heat sink for warming the medium pressure air.

Poseidon's literature states that the gas can be up to 22 degrees warmer after passing through a 7' hose as compared to a 2.3' version. Well, it certainly makes sense, as the hose would be considerably warmer than the expanding gas from the first stage.

I am assuming that the results were done under controlled circumstances. While the difference is not tremendous, it could play a small role in the prevention of hypothermia.

Food for discussion....
