With the new year looming, I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread for everyone to share their scuba plans for 2012. It might be going away on a liveaboard, or a target for amount of dives in the year, or maybe planning on buying that new bit of kit that you need.

Anyway, I will start it off:

I plan to do a lot more diving locally, I've only ever dived in the clear blue ocean on holiday, so looking forward to the challenges of limited vis. Got BCD for christmas so that has given me the incentive to get going as soon as I can but probably have to wait until Easter before its first use. Number wise, around 20 dives would be good. Might get plenty more, might struggle. Who knows.

Well, I'm heading off to the Maldives in about four weeks ... gonna be spending 10 days on the Carpe Vita Explorer, celebrating my 60th birthday. It'll be my first dives in the Indian Ocean.

2012 will be the year I finally make it down to dive the caves in Mexico ... I'm thinking perhaps in May.

In August I plan to head back up to Port Hardy, on the northern tip of Vancouver Island.

And late in the year ... October or November ... make a trip to Africa ... Mozambique, perhaps.

I'm heading to the Florida Keys the last week of January, but haven't locked in exactly where yet. Recommendations welcome. Looking for a balance of spa treatments for her and macro photography diving for him.

Need to get the seals replaced on the dry suit, then I'll be back to diving the waters of Southern California.

We'll be doing another trip with Explorer Ventures to Saba/St. Kitts. I'll do at least one trip to Playa del Carmen with an upgrade to Tech Cave. Whether I visit the caves on Abaco with Brian Kakuk this year or next remains to be seen.

I have two boys at university, so I have very little extra money! I am hoping to do some diving off the New York/New Jersey coast.

Safe Diving

Well, for me, I'm just a new certified Stress&Rescue diver, so my next plan is to get the Master Diver card from SSI.
Also, i'm planning to get over the 2011 mark of 30 dives, so I will start with some diving in Roatan in February.

For me, I have several pretty ambitious goals:
1- is I will be diving the Mexico caves in feburary
2- Start a cave DPV course
3- go down to FL a few times for some good, ol' fun cave diving
4- Co- teach a course & go through to reach Dive Control Specialist Instructor
5- Go on a diving trip to Little Cayman
6- Take both a normoxic & Adv. (hypoxic) Trimix course
7- Teach lots of specialties & Stress & Rescue courses, along with Open Water Check- out dives
8- Make at least 120- 150 dives throughout the year

I may not make everything,.... but I am going to try to get as many accomplished as I can.

I do not usually bother with my birthdays, but this year decided to dive (in Tenerife) and then have a party for my 80th.

Aside from a lot more local diving I have a trip to Roatan for Feb. We go away in march every year so there will be some diving there, wherever we decide to go. Gonna dive the Oriskany in May along with more Cavern and possibly delve into some cave.

That's it for now but the list is guaranteed to get longer :)
