Captain Van discovered this anchor damage on the reef in West Palm.
Reminds me of the cable drag off Breakers a few years ago that sliced off a bunch of barrel sponges and tore up the reef.

Are they really sure that was caused by an anchor? Looks a lot like someone dragged something a lot wider unless it was a very large ship. They are usually confined to specific anchorages.

Perhaps a trawler?
 
I saw a friegther (can't spell today, hope that is close) anchored out just this past week, we were loaded down with passengers, visiting about our dives, but I thought to myself, that looks a little out of place as we went by, I felt as if it was farther offshore than it should have been....sure wish I would have stopped and check the coordinates and name of the damn thing...I hope the port have records...I sure will pay more attention next time and not be distracted by the conversations onboard...
