For those who are interested in becoming more active on water issues in North Florida, here are some opportunities for direct involvement:

Public meeting on water supply issues in north Florida- 3/7
The St. Johns River and Suwannee River water management districts and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection will host a public meeting March 7 to bring stakeholders together to discuss water supply issues in north Florida. The meeting will be held from 6–8 p.m. March 7 at Alachua City Hall at 15100 N.W. 142nd Terrace, Alachua. The meeting will be an opportunity to share progress made and projects planned as part of the North Florida Regional Water Supply Partnership — an initiative to protect natural resources and ensure cost-effective and sustainable water supplies.

FLOW (this is the group that has evolved out the Tri-County Meeting initiated by Columbia, Suwannee, and Hamilton Counties) will meet 3/12 at 6 pm at the Columbia County School Board Administration Complex, 372 West Duval Street, Lake City, FL. Our next meeting will be on 4/17 at the Municipal Building in Newberry (25420 West Newberry Rd). At the meeting we will be exploring what local governments can do to for springs and what springs can do for local communities. I am hoping to hold the meeting in the morning and then have a field trip in the afternoon.
