I'm back after a long hiatus and one of the first orders of business is to update our great Everything Photo Sticky!

We need your help with this massive clean-up & update, so please PM me with any of the following - the more information we have the better we can make the Sticky!
- Your ideas and links to essential information on gear: compacts, 4/3s, dslrs, strobes, lenses, accessories
- links to posts here on ScubaBoard showcasing particular gear set ups. Let's link to threads and/or galleries on ScubaBoard, not externals, please - even if you need to create a thread to share.
- Your ideas and links to essential information on techniques & tips
- links to posts here on ScubaBoard showcasing particular techniques. Let's link to threads and/or galleries on ScubaBoard, not externals, please - even if you need to create a thread to share.
- your ideas on what areas need to be covered in the Sticky
- your ideas on what current gear is around and should replace the existing list
- your ideas on anything else you can think of that might be helpful

Happy to be back and can't wait to rebuild the Sticky with you all!!

Oh yeah, almost forgot - does anyone want to have the monthly theme Sticky again? Tell us here in this thread along with your suggestions for themes :)

Thanks for the welcome back! Sadly, no, I wasn't out diving much over the past little while, but I'm hoping 2012 sees me hit the water a lot more!!

Stuff like each mode on a camera like say aperture, manual, shutter etc. what they are used for and when to use them in certain situations.
Strobe positions for wide angle, certain animals, and if using a single strobe. Also white balance while using strobes.
Basics and most useful editing tools like exposure and white balance.
Main cameras and their pros and cons. Also pros and cons of the popular housings, as the range for some housings is very wide.

Anything like that i would benefit greatly from :)

Great ideas, Everyone! Keep 'em coming :)

Victor - we're going to keep everything in one thread (the Everything Photo Thread) and your ideas are great for individual posts, thanks!

Bob - Yay, that's one vote for the montly theme! We also need ideas for the themes (hint hint, guys!)

If anyone has information they'd like to share please send it to me via PM so I can arrange it all and get it into the Sticky properly. I'm only one woman so appreciate those of you who have new systems putting forth your impressions of the kit as I am not going to have time or energy to dig up every offering to put in the list!

Ideas for monthly themes ...

- Facial expressions (anthropomorphizing is always fun)
- What's for lunch? (critters eating things)
- Couples (propogatin' the species)
- Posers (unusual or interesting shots of critters doing things)
- Bugs
- Slugs
- Things that aren't what they seem

---------- Post added at 05:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:09 AM ----------

Oh ... and somewhere I'd like to see a discussion on Lightroom. I can't offer much yet, as I'm just learning it ... but it's an amazing tool, and a Lightroom "tips and tricks" discussion would be worthwhile ...

There is a subject that comes over and over again, which is sticky buttons in the Canon housings.
There is a fabulous page here (http://blog.gieselman.com/post/Fixing-sticky-buttons-on-underwater-camera-housings.aspx) done by Matt Gieselman that teachs how to clean and lube the Canon OEM housing buttons to avoid the sticky buttons problem.
This link should be in the sticky.

@emoreira - please PM me the link :)

@All SBers - please PM me any links or information you think might be useful. I can't update the Sticky all on my lonesome so the more info I have from you guys, the better the Sticky can be!

I'm with Bob on Lightroom. I have been using it for about 9 months and LOVE it. If you shoot RAW then it is the tool to use to develop those pics. Good news is that the price was cut in half with LR4. It is now $150. In terms of links that I find very useful there are two. One is Photography Tutorials, Photography Tips, Photography Lessons, Photography Equipment Reviews, Photography Wordpress Themes (http://www.slrlounge.com) it has an exhaustive list of tutorials on LR and many other subjects. Another great link is to Canon Digital Photography Forums - Powered by vBulletin (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/) there is a ton of information there on photography. Though it is a Canon forum there are Nikonians and others contributing there. You will see pi$$ing matches that rival Cozumel dive op fan boys there!

I've started to update the Sticky a bit - the compact area, so far - but I desperately need SBers help with getting a list of the new models for each brand, thoughts on what you are using and for links to photos taken with new models.

I need this for dslrs and for compacts :)

Any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks to all who participated in April's theme! May's (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/419165-may-2012-theme-car-wash-cleaning-behaviour.html) is up and running now :bounce:

Is this the place to suggest a theme? If yes I have one: "On top of each other". Underwater creatures seem to have developed a high tolerance for sharing their own bodies with strangers. Sometimes the close communal living if beneficial for all the parties involved and sometimes is not.

Another theme:
"Cribs", Hideaways, or Home Sweet Home (places critters call home)
Rush Hour (schooling fish, bait balls, etc.)
Comedy Zone (goofy divers being themselves underwater)

Is the "everything photo" thread up to date? Looking for a nice u/w digital camera in the $200-300 range. Some reviews I've seen list the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/lumix-waterproof-camera-review.html) as one of the best.

Heaterore - it's not 100% up to date, I'm afraid! Still trying to get more members to offer current information.

I personally have the TS3 and love it :)

April 2013 Theme: Go Wide (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/450913-april-2013-theme-go-wide.html)! Now up and running - let's see tons of photos and lots & lots of comments!!

On another note - I really need info from those of you shooting 4/3 rigs & current compacts as the sticky is still woefully out of date since last year's plea for help fell mostly on deaf ears. I hope some of you can find some time to help us out, thanks!!
