Thought maybe people would be amused by a few of these photos which were taken on the Priness Ann Wreck which was a Car Ferry that was sunk as an artificial reef off central Palm Beach County in 100 feet of water.

The sinking was apparently botched pretty badly, with the ship landing on top of a very productive reef. I think the location probably resulted in a faster colonization of the wreck, but these pictures were taken when the wreck was still pristine, within the 1-6 weeks of the sinking, I can't really remember.

Hard to believe it looked like that at one time. I've only dove the site once, but with the collapsed deck and the growth, looks nothing like your photos. Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE that wreck! Interesting to hear it was botched. One of the reasons I love it so much is because there is reef nearby. Oopsie!

They made the sinking into a big media promotion and had reporters out on boats and they went ahead with the sinking under heavy seas, people were sick, they couldn't control the ship in the wind and current and I think i remember hearing that the remote detonation failed and they had to send a diver onto the ship and "manually" initiate the proceedure.

I think they had a radio contest and the winner was supposed to 'push the button" to blow up the ship.... I was not there to witness any of it, it was way too rough to be out there, as I recall.

I do remember diving the wreck like 2 dys after sinking... The bottom was literally littered with dead fish, alot of angels...I guess they went a little overboard on the the explosives because concussion was like dynamite fishing.
