Hi everyone,

Just hoping for some advice, I will get a day maybe two while staying in Denpasar to hopefully get some diving in, just wondering if there are good spots near the city (say a day trip worth of diving to return at the end of the day) and if so any suggestions on who to go with and which sites to aim for?

Thanks very much!

Hi there

Nusa Lembongan is fantastic and if the boat can get to Manta Point you have about a 90 per cent chance of seeing manta rays. There are also lovely coral reefs in teh area and from June to October there are often Mola Mola at another site. You do need to be reasonably confident in the water though as there can be strong currents on some of the sites. You may also see the Liberty Wreck advertised , which is also wonderful. But by road this will take 3 hours each way in usually a cramped van. By the time the vans arrive from the south the poor old wreck is like Picadilly Circus.
We have done purely diving trips to Bali and it is a wonderful diving destination.

Best fishes x

Agree lembongan is your best bet for diving. Blue corner and buyuk were excellent for molas in October last year, manta point for mantas yes weather dependent. Twofish do tulumben day trips, it's a long day but it's planned so less divers when you arrive and can do 3 dives there before heading back. But easier if u r actually staying on lembongan so prob best stick to those sites you can get too.

It would be a long drive to dive the Liberty Wreck for just having a couple of days! It took us almost 3 hours to get up there with tons of traffic and windy roads! It is great once you get there!

Padang Bai is 45min away from Denpasar. You can dive with sharks and often turtles just 500m from the dive centres there. Macro is good too.
Sanur also offers some diving. Viz can be bad and currents can be strong but good guides will find great macro.
You can also dive Lembongan from Sanur or Padang Bai.
