Does the cable for the 2.1 work for the 2?

I've read on the forums a reference to the "older cable" vs "the newer cable". Are there 2 different cables for the 2, or does this refer to the 2 vs 2.1? And, what is the difference anyway?

Also, are there model numbers available to be sure I purchase the correct one?

I pulled out both computer cables. To my surprise, there is no sticker for P/N on the Pro Plus 2 cable.

I searched the Internet and I believe it should be 04.9600.

Attached is a picture of both cables. The one on left (bigger one with word "Oceanic") is for Pro Plus 2, and the one right is for Pro Plus 2.1

There are 3 cables actually version 1,2,3 the picture shows version 1 and 3. Version 1 and 2 look the same but are not interchangeable. 04.9600 is the correct number for the pro plus 2 computer.
 
Good to know about the PP3. I wanted to cry when I found out the 2 wouldn't work with the 2.1. Common sense would say....?? Yet oddly enough, my PP2.1 works on a Wisdom 3. Go figure.

A universal cable for these would be so easy to do.
