Want to learn more about the science behind the lionfish invasion? REEF is excited to announce an upcoming Lionfish Collecting and Handling Workshop – Friday, April 5th at 6:00 pm at REEF Headquarters (98300 Overseas Hwy.). The workshop is free to attend, and topics will include the background of the invasion, lionfish biology, ecological impacts, current research findings, and collecting and handling tools and techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to get a Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) lionfish collecting permit, allowing him or her to collect lionfish in the Sanctuary Preservation Areas using hand nets.

The workshop is free to attend, we just ask that you register for the workshop here.

If you can't make it to this workshop but you would like to attend in the future, add yourself to the REEF Lionfish listserv to receive notifications when workshops, derbies, and lionfish dives are scheduled.
