You can help protect our local parks, beaches and waterways, and the wildlife that depends on them from harmful trash. After several major storms and a hard winter, our local beaches need more help than ever. We want to make a dent into the floating trash problem, and show what a community of people can accomplish when they work together towards a common goal!
That is why we are calling all Northeast Divers and their friends and families to unite and to join us at the 4th Annual Orchard Beach Clean-Up on May 5th.

Those of you who came to our event last year know how much drifting garbage can accumulate and negatively impact a local landmark like Orchard Beach - yet you also know how a dedicated group of people can help to change this. Last year we removed over 2,150 lbs of trash within four hours!

We would like to invite you to be part of this year's event on May 5th. Divers are asked to report at 9.00 am, beach combers please report at 10.00 am.
You will receive gloves, bags and instructions.

If you need directions to Orchard Beach, Bronx, NY, please go to MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map.
Signs on the left side of the parking lot will direct you to the event. Once on the grounds, just follow the signage to the registration booth.

As always, there will be a clambake/bbq in the afternoon, open to the divers and volunteers who collect a minimum of 5 lbs of trash (certain restrictions apply). There will be a weighing station at the beach, so make sure you sign in first thing in the morning, then bring your collected trash to be weighed and receive a wristband for access to the afternoon's food service.
We will also hold a raffle for the volunteers with prizes donated by our sponsors, and award prizes for the highest amount of garbage and the most unusual piece of trash collected!

May 5th promises to be a great day for the community, and we hope that you will join us in this multi-organization effort at Orchard Beach, Bronx, NY!

Only you can make it happen! Please invite your family and friends, and spread the word in schools and your community! We need your support!

For more information please go to our event page by clicking here: Orchard Beach Cleanup and Clam Bake 2013

We are looking forward to seeing you on May 5th!
