I'll be visiting LA for a conference June 11 - 13. I was hoping to be able to squeeze some diving in that week, either before or after the conference. I'm staying at a Hilton in Montebello until the 13th then have the potential to stay somewhere else. Any suggestions for diving outlets in the area? Would love to experience some west coast US diving. I hear Catalina is nice?

Thanks for any tips!

June 11, 12 and 13 are midweek. Not many boats go out on TU, WEd, and Thursdays.
for those days you might check out the sundiver express in Long Beach.
Another option is shore diving in Laguna Beach.
I think the best option might just be to take the catalina express over to avalon and dive the casino point park.
there are dive shops on the island that can provide you with tanks, weights and gears, plus air fills at the park.
enjoy your diving here.

Thanks for the info!

I'm aiming at spending Friday & Saturday in LA after the conference to catch the boats out to Catalina. What's water temp like in June?

Did a bit of checking for FR 6/14 and the Magician goes out then as an open boat.
Sa 6/15 the Great Escape goes out as an open boat.
Both boats are docked across from each other.
They are both great boats, offer good meals/snacks, quick fills, bunks, showers, great crew and captains, 3-tank dives.
You would be quite happy with both.
Also consider Sundiver and Sundiver express. Their schedule is not yet posted for those days.
