I will be headed down over the summer to the Cayos Cochinos and wondering if it is possible/legal/encouraged to help cull some of the lionfish in that area. I understand that it is a Marine Sanctuary but would like to do my part to help then out the population if this is possible. I would bring along my own short spear pole if so. Thanks for the help.

Only DMs and Instructors are permitted to spear lion fish. Beyond that you'll have to negotiate with your dive operator.

Every time I read that, my head spins.

The Roatan Marine park has NOTHING to do with Cayos Cochinos, Cayos Cochinos actually has their own marine folks patrolling who can enforce laws
